WordSoak is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your learning data stays on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.
WordSoak stores the following data locally on your Mac using Safari's extension storage:
All of this data is stored locally and never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to sync it (see below).
WordSoak uses Apple's built-in Translation framework to translate text between Dutch and English. Translations are processed on your device by Apple's system APIs. WordSoak does not send text to any third-party translation service.
WordSoak offers optional synchronization of your learning set via the Solid protocol. If you choose to enable this feature, your word list is synced to a Solid Pod that you control. WordSoak does not operate or have access to any Solid Pod — you bring your own.
This feature is entirely opt-in. If you don't enable it, no data is ever transmitted.
WordSoak does not include any analytics, tracking pixels, or telemetry. We do not collect usage data, crash reports, or any other information about how you use the extension.
WordSoak does not integrate with any third-party services, advertising networks, or data brokers.
WordSoak requests permission to access web page content in order to identify and replace words with their translations. This content is processed entirely on your device and is never sent to any server.
WordSoak does not knowingly collect any information from children or anyone else.
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Since WordSoak doesn't collect any data, changes are unlikely.
